When you are going on a road trip, you have to take along some goodies to munch on while you are driving down the road. Some things are just a give into take, but what are some of the best items to keep your belly in balance and feeling satisfied?
Bottled water is a must for a road trip. If you don’t like plain water, there are several manufacturers that offer a variety of different fun flavors to add to the bottled water to give it some zip, from a favorite fruit or a tea flavor. These come in individual packets ready-made to just pour in to a water bottle and shake it up until the crystals dissolve completely.
In your small cooler of snacks, make sure to bring some:
Baby carrot sticks, celery sticks, or any small finger size veggie you choose
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into little squares, with your favorite flavors.
Animal crackers, they are good treats and come in fun shapes and sizes
Pretzels sticks, or the smaller shaped round ones, offer a little salt and are easy to hold and eat.
Beef jerky, to give you some meat flavors to chew on and give you some protein.
A bag of Chex mix will go a long way in the flavor department and in satisfying a craving.
Fruit is always a good choice, apples, pears, plums, nectarines, cherries, and oranges if they are already cut into slices. If you do bring them make sure to bring some paper towels for the dripping. The other fruits have little to no dripping involved in eating them.
Miniature cookies are a great sweet little treat, which can come in most all of the best flavors of your favorite regular size cookies.
Flavored crackers are another good choice, they come in vegetable, bacon, ranch, Cheddar cheese and chicken flavors, just to mention a few, to tease your tummy.
For other types of beverages to take with you, the list is endless, (Power-Ade, fruit juices, cokes, teas) just make sure that if the drink you are planning to take has a lid close it up to prevent spills. If not take a (to- go) cup and pour your favorite drink into that.
The snacks mentioned here are designed to be less messy, full of flavor, good for you and easy to eat and enjoy on your road trip. Not to mention it will save a little money by not stopping at the fast food places along the way.
